I haven't tried on an iOS phone but on the OBDLink website it mentions that the MX+ supports many iOS apps. So I believe it should work with Track Addict. If you want to be sure it might be best to contact the OBDLink support team or Track Addict support team

@@FrakkingCreations Thanks. Reason is because I was notified not all OBD adapters can connect bluetooth to iPhones. Only specific bluetooth like BLE / 4.0, and not those Bluetooth 1.x, 2.x and 3.x ones . I’ll write to OBDlink for further enquire , thanks!

Oh one other thing. Because OBDLink has an iOS app that works with the MX+, I'm inclined to think that it will work if it's only a BT issue that you are concerned about. Please post back once you find out. Would be good info to know.

Well, it's easier said than done. Not everyone has the luxury to move to a different city. And saying this is similar to saying don't go anywhere unsafe even if you need to get groceries from there, or don't own anything nice because someone will steal it from you, don't live in a nice place, etc...

@@FrakkingCreations I used to live in a small town in Pennsylvania and we didn't even lock our doors at night. So, yes moving to another place can prevent license plate theft

It isn't the biggest list. The extended features actually doesn't support the vehicles we own. I do wish they keep updating it for more vehicles, though. I could imagine that these manufacturers all want a lot of money for access to their IP or just don't want to allow it.

Best with a cream. Milk will be too thin and not as tasty... You really do need the fat for it to taste good. You might be able to get away with homogenized milk (3.25% fat, I think) but I don't think it will be the best taste and it will be more liquid. Hope that helps.

No. I don't think so. Even if it was possible to use the fuse box and fuse tap to make a kill switch, it would be easy to get around simply by accessing the fuse box and unplugging the fuse tap.

No. A proper kill switch would require accessing power lines for components like the started, fuel pump, etc... This would not be possible using the OBD port alone.

I've heard someone else suggest this as well. The dome light is definitely another place that there is power available. Though, this power source will not allow for Parking mode features of the dash cam. There is also another method to power dash cams that I will be doing a video on in the coming weeks so check back if interested.

Thank you for commenting. Regarding your question, are you referring to the Homebase siren being too low in volume? If so, I suppose it's always a possibility to add an external siren to it so that it is louder. I haven't looked into this.

That's something OBDLink might be able to answer better. It typically depends on if the vehicle in question is outputting the parameter for transmission temperature. If it is, it will likely be available for display.

yes. I have a link to one in the video description. I suppose a reflective coating could help more but I'm not sure if that will pose an issue with oncoming drivers, with the reflection and all. There are also more expensive window film that can block Infrared heat that is clear and maybe tinted. These may work too, though I haven't tried them.

Thanks for commenting. Since I don't have that vehicle, I won't know specifically which fake splitter port you will need. Though, the ones I linked to in the video description should work. I provided quite a few so you will have to check out what your OBD port looks like and decide which one fits best. As for an OBD lock I also included links for some in the video description. @@FrakkingCreations Thank you for the reply & feedback. I decided to do a variation of what you’re describing and doing. I purchased a splitter, which I’ll use to extend both leads elsewhere in the vehicle. One will be hidden, but accessible for access & I’d like to connect the other to a GPS tracker w/ app access and for vehicle diag. I’d like to think that’s possible, at least. In place of original ODB port, I purchased a dummy that I’ll install & put a lock on. My thought process is that someone should come prepared to spend and waste some time if they’re looking to gain access to the port, and then discover it’s not a legit port anyway, which hopefully will discourage and help them move along to something easier.

Good point. I missed the method of hidden kill switches in the video. If you have the knowledge then this is a nice way to customize additional security to any vehicle.

It should. It depends which hardwire kit was used for your dash cam. It seems the UP02 and UP03 70mai hardwire kits have a very low cutoff voltage of 11.8 V. This could cause the problems if your battery is old or weak. Another thing would be to make sure the hardwire kit was installed properly. If the two wires (ACC and BATT) are installed incorrectly then you could get behaviors like a dead battery. Also, consider how often and how long you drive on a daily basis. If you don't drive enough your car battery would not be charged enough. Along with the dash cam using up the reserve power, any other car systems that are on when the car is off can also drain the rest of the battery. This would be systems like keyless entry and such. Hope that helps.

Well, I would find out why the landlord has an issue with it. It could be that they don't want holes in the frame or door of the unit. If that's the reason then this video may show them that no damage is done. The install is reversible. On the other hand, if it's because of privacy then this won't work. Your only other bet is something like putting a camera up to the peephole of the door. Not sure what privacy laws are in your state/province so that is something you will have to look into an decide on. For the peephole camera, it would be something custom you have to do based on the door and peephole you have. Alternatively, maybe there is a window nearby that you could put a camera behind that is not the PIR type. One that is always recording but has motion detection based on the video and not a PIR infrared sensor.

So as with anything, there's always a give and take. If it's lower down you can definitely get a better shot of the face, but it is easier to reach to steal or damage. Granted, at the top of the door it isn't necessarily that much safer. Also, if someone wanted to the can just as easily wear a filter mask and sunglasses. Then a camera at face level wouldn't help too much either. This is just another option for security camera installation. Sometimes if the place is rented or is an apartment you have to pay for any holes or damage you leave behind when you move out so this might be another option for those to install a camera at the door. We have another video coming out in a week or so for installing a doorbell camera at face level without drilling additional holes in the door. It will also allow powering the doorbell camera if you don't already have power for it at the door (e.g. an existing doorbell). Look out for that if interested. In the end everyone would have to choose what works best for them. Everyone's scenario and requirements are different.

It may depend on the thickness of your copper tape. If it's thinner then you may need more layers. Usually, if the layers are good enough, it will be any other areas where there is an opening like the top of the bag. The two sides of the bag must maintain conductivity. So the lip on both sides should touch metal to metal to maintain conductivity. Rolling the bag opening could help but I would still say that both sides should maintain conductivity at the top. The way I did it in the video is to have the tap from both sides wrap around the lip at the top. This way when the magnet snaps closed, both sides of the bag touch metal to metal at the top lip and maintain conductivity. Another thing to note is that copper tape, like any other metal object, when bent back and forth over time will break. So if you regularly roll the copper tape, it could form small holes where the metal breaks. Hope this helps.

That would work too. Just make sure when you store the battery in your pocket, or wherever, that it doesn't short circuit when the bottom and sides/top touch metal objects nearby. This will deplete/damage the battery or cause it to heat up. Alternatively, some FOBs now have a disable feature that you can use to turn the FOB off until you need it. This may be good enough for your needs. Just make sure to turn all FOBs off. For example, some Mercedes FOBs can be turned of by double pressing the Lock button quickly. To turn on again, just tap any of the buttons again. On the other hand, some BMW FOBs will auto turn off when no motion is detected. This may not work as well especially when you are out and about, like at the mall. You are moving around so when does it turn off? Relay attacks can also happen when you are out. Someone could follow you and transmit your FOB signals to a second thief at your vehicle, which allows them to start it and drive off.
